Maya Ober is a designer, researcher, educator, writer, and activist based in Basel, Switzerland. She holds a B.Des. in industrial design from Holon Institute of Technology and is currently finishing her MA in Design Research at the Berne University of the Arts. Maya is the founding editor of depatriarchise design. She works as a research associate at the Institute of Industrial Design and as a lecturer at the Institute of Aesthetic Practice and Theory at the Academy of Arts and Design in Basel. There, together with Laura Pregger she has developed an educational programme “Imagining Otherwise” looking at how intersectionality can inform design practice. Maya is also a co-director of “Educating Otherwise” – a continued education programme for design educators at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design in Basel.
